Maha Haddad is an award-winning Director and Editor who has overseen films in the U.S. and the Middle East. She edited and was the second unit director of Season I of On the Road in America. The documentary was the second highest-rated show in its primetime slot, when it aired in the Middle East and the English version aired on the Sundance Channel.
She directed the award-winning short film, turieB, about a young woman’s struggles in post-war Lebanon, and she directed and edited a short documentary Mohamad about the Palestinian refugees situation in Lebanon. Themes running through her films are the effects of Colonialism and Postcolonialism on cinema and perception. She also likes to explore novel cinematic approaches while elucidating the relationship between cinematographic language and identity. Her other work focuses on women.
She is a Lecturer at Howard University, where she teaches Film Editing, Film Directing and Film Theory. She is featured in the books, Arab filmmakers of the Middle East and Encyclopedia of Arab Women Filmmakers.
